Yes — most of our students start with no prior experience. Taekwondo builds balance, coordination, focus, and confidence step by step, regardless of starting point.
A dobok (Taekwondo uniform) is required for all classes, including the first one. We will provide a dobok when you sign up — just come ready and we will take care of the rest. Taekwondo is practiced barefoot, so no shoes are needed on the mat.
Yes — book a Free Trial Class through our website and one of our Kukkiwon-certified Masters will personally guide your child or family through their first session.
SMA HQ (Woodstock) and SMA PRO (Ellicott City) are both run by the same SMA team — Master Agnes Seo and Master Sang Min Seo — with the same curriculum and values. Choose whichever location is more convenient for your family.
Yes — every instructor at SMA holds proper Taekwondo certification. Our head instructors are Kukkiwon Certified International Taekwondo Masters and certified USA Taekwondo referees. All of our instructors are trained, vetted, and held to the same high standards of technique and character that define SMA.
Every class is built around the Five Tenets of Taekwondo: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control, and Indomitable Spirit.
